Love to shoot RAW? Certainly it's the way to get the best out of your camera. The downside is that the files are BIG. Why keep those large master files around if the picture itself isn't amongst your best?
If your Library is bloated with RAW files you don’t necessarily need but can’t bring yourself to throw away, RawHide is the compromise you’ve been looking for. RawHide is designed to convert the RAW files you select into high quality JPEG files while preserving your metadata such as comments, ratings, and locations. RawHide will then tag or set the original's rating to reject.
RawHide will also process your Photoshop and TIFF images. In fact, any image format Aperture can handle will receive the same treatment by RawHide.
We can also automatically generate some smart albums that are very appropriate for processing your converted. See this article for further details and instructions.
√ RawHide your adjusted RAW images or discard the changes and archive the original version.
√ Scale the image down from the original size to save even more space.
√ Adjust the new images compression setting between very high to almost no compression.
√ Tag, trash and/or reject the original.
√ A large range of image formats supported.
√ RawHide processed images are placed in the same project as the original.
√ Place converted images in the same albums the originals were in.
√ Converted images can be located in any folder/disk selected by the user and imported as a referenced file.
√ Free up valuable space on your drives. Savings may be upwards of 80%. A library of RAW files taking upwards of 1GB would be reduced to around 200MB of high quality original size JPEGs.
√ Additional disk space can be saved by locating converted images on an external disk and importing them into Aperture as referenced files.
V1.3.1 √ Adds the ability to import the converted JPEGs as referenced files which can be stored in a folder/disk of the users choice. √ Bug fixes to improve stability. √ Adds a dialog to alert Trash Option users to side effects and alternative workflows.
V1.2.6 √ Adds in-application help file. ☂ Bug fix affecting "Place in Albums" feature that could cause application to crash. ☂ Handles a rare situation where Aperture for unkown reasons can not export an image which could cause application to crash.
V1.2.3 New Features! √ Ability to move the originals to Aperture's Trash. √ Place converted images in the same albums the originals were in. √ Bug fix for Lion users where size selection radio buttons would go missing.
V1.1.2 Automatic updates are now included along with the ability to apply a purchased license file to make the demo fully functional. A few minor UI tweaks applied to alert dialogs.
V1.0.4 Fixes issue where quality setting was not taking effect.
V1.0.3 Reliability enhancements when communicating with Aperture.
